Things not to confuse

Don’t confuse creating a vision for your communications with running a programme.

Don’t confuse managing the communications strategy with delivering this month’s PR project.

Don’t confuse supporting next quarter’s results with communicating the long-term direction of your organization.

Make sure that you don’t disconnect with the team having the task of delivering the next milestone, and make sure they know where that next milestone fits.

All these are important, but you need someone to define the direction and thought leadership, have team members who get things done, and managers who manage the process.
