If everything seems to take forever to complete, this is your problem.
You’re not actually delivering.
You’re falling into the trap of mistaking effort with results.
If something’s taking forever, you probably didn’t take responsibility for getting the commitment from the other guys, from those on whom you were relying.
You need to help them understand what’s required, the value to them personally and to the organisation of the task at hand, all ahead of the doing the task itself.
Take them through the positive consequences that will follow, make them aware of the part they have to play, touch on the consequences of missing the deadline for them and for the organisation.
Again, all this takes effort and focus. But: if you want it done, make sure you have everything is place so that it does not take forever.
